The most common theme that we come across in the movies of recent time is either underworld or stories relating to it. The audience is in a dilemma watching such repeated movies and is desperately seeking a change. This is the message that needs to be conveyed to the producers and directors so that the films fate and the expectations of the audience don’t suffer.

P.N. Sathya the filmmaker of Udees, have formerly given hits like Majestic and Dasa. All these three films from his kitty tread the same way of rowdism. Udees is extreme in regard of violence. And how much the audience will want to watch something such is a question in itself. Playing the lead is Mayur Patel, the talented young actor. Within the span of two year he has acted in five movies. His success speaks of his talent, though this movie doesn’t seem to be a very commendable choice on his part. Others in the cast include Sonali Joshi, Srinivasamurthy, Harish Roy, Satyajeeth, Padma Vasanthi, P.N. Sathya and Anu Prabhakar. The film is produced by Satish Chandan.

The story takes off. Parameshwarappa (Srinivasamurthy) sells apple and owing to his daughter Seetha’s (Anu) engagement takes a loan from underworld don Metrebaddi Mohan (Harish Roy). His son Satya (Mayur) a college student stands up against the abuses of his father inflicted by Mohan. He kills Mohan and becomes a rowdy and joins Don Dada’s gang. After sometime he becomes an underworld don. The film then projects on the underworld link with the politicians, encounters and the dirty policies that abode there.

The film appears to be in two split. One part dealing with violence and the other love between Satya and Sonali Joshi. The message is that the path of violence only leads to doom. Though P.N. Sathya has put up a good mix of sentiments and action, yet the intense violence has barred it all. The dialogues are done well and convey reality. But the story, direction and screenplay fall flat on their face. The film seems to be a Hindi remake from all angles.

The creditable one is Mayur who has rendered a good role. Though action role is new on his account, he has carried it out with fineness. This is Sonali Joshi’s first film and she is good on her part. The music is by Venkar Narayan and cinematography by Sundarnath Suvarna.
