Aishwarya (2006)

Aishwarya (2006)

Aishwarya (2006) Movie Review

Upendra-Deepika starred "Aishwarya" directed by Indrajith Lankesh is one film which has been released with a huge media build up and some savvy pre release publicity.

The film also carried huge expectations because it was the first film of country's top model Deepika Padukone.

Though the director had made the film without revealing the contents of the story and its presentation, there was this lurking feeling that it might have been inspired by some successful non Kannada films.

Indrajith has always tried to create his own scripts and present them with very appealing visuals and catchy songs. In Aishwarya, the director goes one step ahead and makes it visually spectacular with rich production values. Here most of the characters are from rich backgrounds and even if the two heroines belong to middle class origins, they are presented in some fantastic colors and chic costumes.

In a way this aspect makes you to forget all the negative shades in the film and come out from the theatre with a happy frame of mind. That is the USP of the film.

The difference in presentation occurs to you from the first frame when Upendra is presented with a totally different hair style and looks.

The trend continues till the final sequence of a happy ending.

Deepika Padukone is also presented with style and she looks captivating on screen. Her dress sense and smile are immaculate. Even the locations are selected with care as much as the background coloring and the choice of dresses for the artists. All these things make it visually stronger.

The peppy youthful songs which have already become a huge hit also add up to the attractive values of the film. All the three songs shot on Deepika (The title song, Manmatha and Hudugi Hudugi) are taken well.

Still the film should have taken a better tempo in the first half of the film. The second half of the film moves faster like a Formula race while the first half lacks the pace.

The director however makes up by taking a plot which is a take off from the sequences of Surya-Asin starred "Ghajini' which comes in the first half. The film's second half reminds of Nagarjuna starred Telugu Hit "Manamthudu'. In that way even "Manmathudu' had a thin story line and had appealed only in the second half.

All the comedy portions, emotional sequences and the three top songs are placed in the second half of the film.

The story is simple. It tells about the transformation of a rich and famous Business leader Abhishek Hegde who initially shown as woman hater, but who has to change his mind because of another assertive and fun loving girl Aishwarya.

Aishwarya comes into life after he had some bitter experience in a love affair. Aishwarya is a girl hailing from a middle class family who finds Abhishek's antics a little uncomfortable and decides to resign only a few days after she joins his AD firm. But she is counseled by Abhishek's uncle who reveals the background. She decides to stay put in the office and also teach Abhishek a lesson.

Abhishek and Aishwarya will travel to Europe for promoting the firm's business interests where the two understand each other. Love blossoms, but both of them refuse to reveal what is in their mind. . Abhishek goes into depression again when he comes to know that Aishwarya is already engaged. What happens next?

Well the film which has a happy ambience from the first reel also ends up with a happy note.

Upendra comes out with a highly dignified performance. He has also excelled as a singer and lyricist in the film. He has some flashy dresses which look good in the songs.

Deepika has a very good screen presence and her gorgeous looks will certainly floor the young audience. She is definite to go places in the future, but she has to improve in emotional sequences.

Daisy Bopanna has also come out with a standout performance. The supporting cast of Komal and Sadhu Kokila are very good in comedy.

Amrithadhare (2005)

Amrithadhare (2005) Review

Banner –
Nagathihalli Cine Creations

Screenplay, Direction – Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar
Music – Mano Murthy
Cinematography – Krishnakumar
Cast – Amitabh Bachchan in guest appearance, Dhyan, Ramya, Bhavya, Avinash, Mandya Ramesh, Yashwanth Sardeshpande, Comedy time Ganesh, Raju Ananthaswamy, Nandakumar, Venkatesh, Dayanand, Dr Harnath, R.G.Vijayasarathy and others.

While Kannada cinema is passing through the era of hardware (we mean the action and violent films) nappy Nagathihalli comes out with a software type of film. When the nectar becomes too much it turns out to be poison! That is what happened here in ‘Aa Mrutha Dhaare’ film. The velocity of love is great here. It is an act of endless forgiveness, a tender look that becomes a habit. The brain cancer patient Amrutha screaming at the top of her voice at the highest altitude that she is happy and thrilled and a few reels later declaring that Yama should run away from her smile in front of the Taj Mahal and losing her breath is a fantastic concept of this intelligent and shrewd director. That is life! Nagathihalli has many more such scenes in the film. Some are funny some are clichĂ© while others needed a finer outlook. However his target of audience is ‘A’ class – that also means American class of audience. This time he has catered to another A – Australian audience. ‘A’ stands for audience. That is what important for maker. For the middle class audience he comes very close – Dhyan represents them while Ramya is a pointer to high Fonda life.

Nagathihalli shows Dilli here. The second half is not only emotion packed but also a travelogue of India. This director has ‘wheels’ in his legs ever since ‘America America’. He splashes with splendor and gives a visual treat.

The story is not new. It is old wine in very old bottle. But the artistes and presentation style is different, apt and up to date. The message from the Eiffel tower of Indian cinema Amitabh Bachchan – three years of meaningful life is important than 100 years of meaningless existence has come from the right man indeed! The presence of Amitabh Bachchan does not add to the film. But the grace of Amitabh is very much present. For the living legend of Indian cinema Nagathihalli in the title card has not given right salute. Amitabh Bachchan name should be first in the title card nor Dhyan or Ramya.

Puru and Amrutha are like friends in their married life. They are perfect match, no doubt about it. Amrutha is a spendthrift while Puru is stingy. Both are employed. Puru is a salesman in automobile shop while Amrutha is a software engineer. But it is all for Amrutha. The habit of this couple is to quarrel in life. They find something interesting in their quarrel is OK but all the time the court scene Yaake. Amrutha demands for child but Puru wants to build a house in his wife name. All the intelligent people come from rented house says the director Nagthi. The mock court of friends is set again. This time mother in law supports Puru. So the house comes up and it named as ‘Amrutha Dhaare’. On the house warming celebration day Amrutha falls sick. She is admitted to hospital. The tests conducted by doctor points to brain cancer. Like in ancient cinemas on Indian screen this is kept in suspense from the patient. The life span of Amrutha is very short says the doctor and advise Puru to look after Amrutha as comfortably as possible. Puru sells the mansion he has built for Amrutha to keep her immensely happy. Then we get the Indian travelogue from Kanyakumar to Kashmir. Puru brings Amrutha to her much loving personality Amitabh Bachchan and arranges a meeting. He takes Amrutha to the highest altitude. When one fine morning Amrutha is missing Puru comes searching. In front of Gauthama Buddha he begs for the recovery of Amrutha. This is where Amrutha knows the deadly disease she has. She yells at Puru and says he is not her good friend as he covered up the crucial matter. Puru becomes very emotional and explain the situation. Amrutha decide to go to Taj Mahal in Agra and this is where she breathes last on the lap of Puru.

Ramya is excellent throughout. The role of being very haughty is very near to her real life? It is because she has lived the role. She looks beautiful even while crying. In the emotional scenes especially when she is hearing what Puru is telling about her disease she grabs full attention. She is no doubt a strong contender for award from this role. Dhyan the Chaco hero has given a lively and poised performance at places. He looks handsome and the spectacle he wears suits him well. The costumes for both Ramya and Dhyan are colorful. The youngsters of today surely going to envy this couple on screen!
Mandya Ramesh, Comedy Time Ganesh, Yashwanth and Raju Ananthaswamy provide admirable support.

Mano Murthy once again gives lovely tunes – Raju Anthaswamy song Mane Katti Nodu, the opening song, the title song, Huduga Huduga are surely going to be hit. The background score for the film is also good. It is Krishnakumar who has captured the beautiful spots up north with lot of struggle. The master in the craft of cinematography Krishnakumar adds extra value to the film.

For Kannada audience and the people elsewhere ‘Amrutha Dhaare’ is like drinking ‘Haalu Jenu’. That is what we can say because ‘Amrutha’ is not available to drink.

mungaru male (2006)

Mungaru Male (2006) Review - A gem among the rocks

Mungaru Male has overtaken most of the Kannada movies to become the leading Kannada film in the recent past and is on its way to becoming the biggest audio hit in recent times. Can a good film be made with only some high technical values? This question comes to the mind whenever we see some films made with lot of grandeur and glitz but falling short of expectations because of weak presentation. Every one in the film industry agrees that the script is by far the most important part of a film and it is the foundation on which the entire strength of the product is built. But we see many young directors fall prey to technical values and think that well captured sequences and finely tuned choreographic numbers are the only essential ingredients of a film. The film under review, Mungaru Male (The monsoon rain) raises the same questions.

A city bred youth Preetham is so fascinated by a girl whom he sees that he unknowingly falls into a manhole. She helps him come out by pulling his hand.In the process, her fiancÉes watch falls down into Preetham's hands, which he takes a gift. To his surprise, he sees the same girl in distant Kodagu where he has accompanied his mother for a marriage. He realizes that he has come to attend the marriage of the same girl whom he is so fond of. While he is on his way back to city, Nandini calls him and challenges his love and provokes him to accept the challenge to try snatching her if he can.

On the way back to her home he finds a soft heartened silent friend Devdas (a rabbit) who listens to all his words/emotions unconditionally. He ends up at her home, helping her family with the marriage preparations which is just after 5 days away. Preetham makes those five days the most unforgettable and impressive for Nandu and her family, and gets his image firmly etched in her mind. Amidst the breathtaking beauty of the Jog Falls during the rainy season which has been captured beautifully in the movie, Nadu deeply falls in love with him.

Meanwhile Nandu's mom observes her daughter talking to a guy over phone she wants to elope with , leaving that arranged marriage. She comes to Preethu whom she thinks is the best friend of Nandu and pressurizes him to detect the guy whom she loves. Even though Preetham admits that he is the guy who loves Nandu, her mom doesn't take it seriously and walks away, leaving the hero in an emotional knot. The gullible hero ends up into another knot when the ex-army service man Mr. Subbaya (Nandu's father) gives him the responsibility of his daughter's marriage and asks Preethu to promise that he will make sure her marriage only happens with Army man Gautham who has saved Mr. Subbaya's life in a war.

After talking to his mom about his love, Preetham decides to go away and from her life. He starts behaving to her in a manner as if he played with her life and makes her get annoyed with him. He finds Gautham in a difficult situation and fights for him and makes him reach Nandu's home on time. He then turns back. Preethum wants to be with Devdas, so it is next to him inside the car when he turns back. He again starts discussing with Devdas about his love but finds that Devdas has breathed its last breath.

He just upholds the message that love is a charming magic but sacrificing for the sake of love is more adorable. The film rocks because of many good shots taken in the rainy season in the Karnataka's visually stunning Malnad area. This is one of the few Kannada movies to have run houseful for the matinee show on a working day at PVR Cinemas, Bangalore.

Music: NRI composer Mano Murthy has created magical music for the film which has become the toast for youngsters.

Photography : Krishna. The fantastic photography which makes the audience of Kannada supporters/admirers/devotees to come back for many more shows...!!!

Director: Yogaraj Bhat. Along with his direction has also given refreshing dialogues.

Producer: E.Krishnappa.

Hero: Ganesh (Comedy time)

My Autograph (2005)

My Autograph Movie Review

Cast: Sudeep, Meena, Sridevika, Deepu, Srinivas Murthy, Rashmi Kulkarni, Yathiraj, Hirish, Laxminarayan, Vishwanath
Music: Bharadwaj
Producer: Sudeep
Director: Sudeep

This is an avant-garde film in the early career of debutant director who is a very popular commercial actor Sudeep of Kannada cinema. Sudeep has done experiment in the past. He had taken a big task by playing a challenging role in 'Swathi Muthyam'.

No ruffle. Everything is subtle. As an actor and director Sudeep is superb. The film sustains the interest till the last frame. Sudeep has taken very good care and his attempt is daring. Like how he has the difficulty in understanding the Malayalam language on screen the Kannada audience also find it difficult to understand the language.

For those who have not seen the original Tamil film this Kannada film is a new experience. You start seeing the film from your eyes. In the later reels it reaches your heart and maximum of viewers may feel their autograph is on the screen.

Shanker comes back to his roots to meet his friends in the childhood to handover his marriage invitation. The film opens up in the flash back now and then and the past of Shanker is also unveiled. Shanker in the school days becomes very close to Lakshmi (Deepu) in the college days he falls in love with Lathika (Sridevika) and in the work place he becomes a close friend to Divya (Meena) and in marriage he settles down with Rashmi.

These stages in the life of Shanker are explained in touching style and there is no exaggeration. His father is a post office staff and thus he shuffles from one place to another place. The tragedy strikes Shanker when his childhood loving friend Lakshmi does not turn up for college after 10 th standard. The tender love is explained in a convincing style. The same Lakshmi he meets after a few years with two children to her. He is shocked at the transformation when he handover the invitation of his marriage. In the case of Lathika also the wrong moves of her family shatter her love with Shanker. Shanker who is so intimate to Lathika struggles hard to get her but it all go in vain. He sees Lathika as widow when he comes to handover his marriage invitation. Shanker meets Divya who puts lot of courage to him prefer to be a friend for ever to him. In the climax he ties the nuptial knot to Rashmi. All his friends land up in Shanker's marriage. This is what his short graph in life.

This is an emotional filled role for Sudeep. He is slowly turning another Dr.Vishnuvardhana in emotion roles. Meena is awesome. Sridevika is very charming and Deepa is very diligent. Srinivasamurthy the senior supporting actor is apt.

The two unforgettable areas of this film are music and cinematography. The three songs are very good and the capture of those songs in the film is a treat to the eyes. On the whole photography is simply spectacular. The background score by Rajesh Ramanath is also precise.

The lacuna of the film is the length. The first half could have been chopped.

Care Of Footpath (2006)

Cast: Master Kishen,B. Jayashree,Tara,Sourab Shukla,Mukyamantri Chandru,Suresh Heblakar,Deepthi

Director: Master Kishen

Producer: Srikanth

Cinematography: Rajan Mathew

Screenplay: Mysore Harish

Story Writer: Udaya Marakkini, Jogi

Care of Footpath is a film that deals with the travails of a slum boy to get educated despite facing hurdles.

The film is directed by 10 year old Kishan who has already proved his talent as a child artist in over 25 films and a few television serials. Master Kishan has already been regarded as a child prodigy and many veteran artists like Jackie Shroff and B.Jayashree have been surprised over the way this young kid has handled his first film. His efforts have borne fruit in the form of recognition from Guinness Book of world records.

Care of Footpath is certainly decent film with a good story woven by people with a positive frame of mind. The efforts will prove to be fruitful to the inherent message of this film. It is much better than the beaten track films and violent and sex filled films made with commercial ingredients.

Master Kishan wins by his performance as much as for his creative inputs into the film. Care of Footpath made by Srikanth- Kishan's father is certainly a feather in the cap for the wonder kid, as it can not be dismissed as just an ordinary creation.

The film has substance and some very good performances coupled by decent technical values. It is an issue based film and makes us wonder how a ten year old boy could think of weaving such stories. But then that is how geniuses are born. Care of Footpath is the story of a slum boy who works as a rag picker to earn some money for livelihood and also to look after his aged sick grandma. He is fun loving young kid who wants to achieve something bigger in life.

The slum boy Krishna is interested in studies, but his efforts to get into school is met with failures. Finding that this intelligent boy has lot of interest in learning, a school teacher and a social worker takes interest in getting Kishan admitted to school. But Kishan is highly intelligent boy and also hard working. He has picked up studies when other rich students are being taught in tuitions.

Kishan also proves that he has already learnt many things when he was working as a servant. Finally the teachers find that he has enough intelligence to appear for the class seventh examination. But for his age he can only take up the fifth standard examination. The boy meets the chief minister and education minister to plead for his case and a committee is formed to determine whether the boy can take the seventh standard examination. He comes out successful in an oral interview much to the delight of his friends and the teacher.

Mathew Rajan's photography is the best in the realistic sequences shot in slums. Music composition by Sri Shyla, mother of Master Kishan passes muster. Totally the film has an authentic touch which is not lost throughout the film. Kishan has also scored well in the selection of the artists of the film who look real in their roles. Master Kishan has delivered a powerful performance as school boy and he has already won a state award for this performance.

Jackie Shroff looks every frame as a Chief Minister and his cameo is well shot. Another Bollywood actor Saurabh Shukla as the hot shot street politician impresses in his cameo. Tara has also done a good job. Theatre artist B.Jayashree comes out in flying colors in the role of the grand mother of the slum boy.

Rebel Star Ambareesh and Sudeep have appeared in a few sequences and their presence remains as sheer attractive value for the film. Journalists Udaya Marakkini and Jogi have done a good job as script writers, while Mysore Harish has done a neat job as a dialogue writer.

Care of Footpath is certainly a film of achievement crafted by a ten year old boy. It deserves to be seen and encouraged by all the people.

Maadesha (2008)

Director: Ravi Srivatsa

Music: Mano Murthy

Maadesha", yet another gangster film, made a lot of unwanted news prior to its release because of censor board troubles, like other movies by director Ravi Srivatsa. But the film is stylish, has some exceptional technical work and well-crafted sequences, though the 'A' certificate could restrict audiences.

Srivatsa shows the grey sides of a determined, ambitious youngster who takes the route of crime. But "Maadesha" clearly breaches the set pattern of gangster films that present the hero in a larger than life image. The director also exposes the fear complex that exists among gangsters and how desertions impact gangs. Some of the sequences are very real.

But Srivatsa is unable to avoid the temptation of using a few cliched sequences where Sanskrit slokas are used as the background for the gangster hero's criminal activities. He also meets the commercial requirements for a movie on the underworld - lots of fights and shootouts.

Srivatsa comes out a winner in the way he stylishly narrates the film. And the performances by the actors are great. The songs are well choreographed and Srivatsa is adequately backed by cameraman Seetharam's fantastic work.

"Maadesha" starts off on a realistic note but as the film moves on there are too many commercial elements that seem forcibly added. The authenticity aspect wanes considerably as the film moves midway and criminal activities are given more importance. This deviation from writer-director Srivatsa perhaps explains why "Maadesha" will not become a significant gangster film in the industry like "Om" or "Duniya" directed by Upendra and Soori respectively.

Maadesha, the hero, is born to poor parents in the temple town of Nanjangud. His father is a mahout to the temple elephant and the young boy is very attached to the animal. In his childhood itself, Maadesha kills a man who assaults his mother. After spending time in a juvenile home, he move to Bangalore.

He starts working at a petrol pump where he is forced to fight some underworld goons. Maadesha's journey to the underworld starts from this small incident and his ambition to move up and his fearless attitude helps him become a don.

Later, he moves to Australia with his friends controlling the mafia and in the end he surrenders to the police, giving the message that crime does not pay in the long run.

Shivaraj Kumar looks stunning and stylish, and his energy levels are amazing in the dance and fight sequences. Mumbai heroine Sonu K. Bhatia is unimpressive and fails to make an impact. Ravi Kale does a neat job in the role of a tough cop and journalist Ravi Belagere also plays his part well.

Composer Mano Murthy's music doesn't stir you like his earlier works, though the background score by Sadhu Kokila is really good.

"Maadesha" is an enjoyable film for Shivaraj Kumar fans.

Udees (2008)

Cast: Mayur, Sonali Joshi, Anu Prabhakar, Srinivas Murthy, Satyajeeth, Padma Vasanthi, P.N. Sathya, Harish Roy
Music: Venkar-Narayan
Producer: Satish Chandan A M
Director: Sathya P N

The most common theme that we come across in the movies of recent time is either underworld or stories relating to it. The audience is in a dilemma watching such repeated movies and is desperately seeking a change. This is the message that needs to be conveyed to the producers and directors so that the films fate and the expectations of the audience don’t suffer.

P.N. Sathya the filmmaker of Udees, have formerly given hits like Majestic and Dasa. All these three films from his kitty tread the same way of rowdism. Udees is extreme in regard of violence. And how much the audience will want to watch something such is a question in itself. Playing the lead is Mayur Patel, the talented young actor. Within the span of two year he has acted in five movies. His success speaks of his talent, though this movie doesn’t seem to be a very commendable choice on his part. Others in the cast include Sonali Joshi, Srinivasamurthy, Harish Roy, Satyajeeth, Padma Vasanthi, P.N. Sathya and Anu Prabhakar. The film is produced by Satish Chandan.

The story takes off. Parameshwarappa (Srinivasamurthy) sells apple and owing to his daughter Seetha’s (Anu) engagement takes a loan from underworld don Metrebaddi Mohan (Harish Roy). His son Satya (Mayur) a college student stands up against the abuses of his father inflicted by Mohan. He kills Mohan and becomes a rowdy and joins Don Dada’s gang. After sometime he becomes an underworld don. The film then projects on the underworld link with the politicians, encounters and the dirty policies that abode there.

The film appears to be in two split. One part dealing with violence and the other love between Satya and Sonali Joshi. The message is that the path of violence only leads to doom. Though P.N. Sathya has put up a good mix of sentiments and action, yet the intense violence has barred it all. The dialogues are done well and convey reality. But the story, direction and screenplay fall flat on their face. The film seems to be a Hindi remake from all angles.

The creditable one is Mayur who has rendered a good role. Though action role is new on his account, he has carried it out with fineness. This is Sonali Joshi’s first film and she is good on her part. The music is by Venkar Narayan and cinematography by Sundarnath Suvarna.

APTHAMITRA (2006)

Cast: Vishnuvardhan, Ramesh, Soundarya, Prema, Dwarakish, Avinash, Satya, Shivaram, Pramila Josha
Direction: P. Vasu
Producer: Dwarakish
Music: Gurukiran
Cinematography: Ramesh Babu

Good things are not made. They happen…" Producer, actor Dwarakish was telling this while talking about his latest venture Apatha Mitra. So is this film that screens the runaway hit pair Kalla-Kulla (Vishnuvardhan - Dwarakish) together after 19 long years along with a remarkable performance by actress Soundarya. Unfortunately Apatha Mitra was her last film too. Lively Vishnu, splendid Soundarya, comic Dwarakish added with catchy music by Gurukiran keeps everyone on their toes with nail biting consequences.

Aptha Mitra, based on Malayalam movie Mani Chitratal, is a suspense film blended with horror making it a perfect thriller. Film revolves around a haunted palace. Ramesh (Ramesh), an engineer buys the palace that has historic background. Everyone believes that the spirit of Nagavalli, a dancer is captivated in a room of that palace. Ganga (Soundarya), out of curiosity opens that locked room with the help of Soumya (Prema), the daughter of the watchman. Then start the troubles. People living there hear anklet sound during night and haunting Telugu song '…raa raa….' Ramesh narrowly escapes from death. Ganga undergoes various accidents. It is Vijay (Vishnuvardhan) who comes to Ramesh's house to spend his holidays saves Ramesh during most of the consequences. Vijay also happens to be a psychiatrist. Gripped direction of P. Vasu wont disclose any clues till the interval and you tend to suspect everyone from Soumya to Ganga to Vijay to warlock Ramachandra Acharya (Avinash). The actual thread starts opening up post interval. And you just wont be able to guess the climax!
Vishnuvardhan and other actors and actresses including Ramesh, Prema, Avinash, Dwarakish and Prameela Joshai who created their own niche. Vishnuvardhan as a psychiatrist looks brilliant and very serious as always but he makes you laugh throughout. Accompanied by Dwarakish, they remind their yesteryears. Ramesh as a modern generation guy has done a good job. Director P. Vasu has made adequate changes from its original version to suite the star images without compromising on the narration and not letting the story lose its grip.

Often we see the music and background scores kill the movie. Particularly in horror/suspense films where background score plays the key role. Contrast to this, Aptha Mitra has brilliant work by Gurukiran that makes every frame of the film double its impact. Also the art direction and cinematography. One can see the perfection throughout the film in all departments. Multi-starrer Aptha Mitra is a perfect treat for people who wants quality entertainer.

Aptha Mitra is not just a horror movie. It has loads of comic relief, curiosity, mischievous moments and pleasing music. Best of all, the scientific justification make it more authentic. Soundarya, a phenomenal actress has performed brilliantly especially during post interval. From facial gesture to body language- it is just superb. You see her as a ferocious lady and the very next moment as a helpless housewife! She scares you at places; at the same time she looks so innocent and beautiful. Soundarya leaves an unforgettable impression on you. It is not only Soundarya but even more.

Milana (2008)

Milana (2008) Movie Review

Starring: Puneeth Rajkumar, Parvathi

Director: Prakash

Keep aside the inspiration the director has taken from a few films and watch this film. This is very interesting in parts. The combination of Prakash and Puneeth Rajkumar for the first time has not given something big but the film is not boring. Excess of action scenes and unwanted situations that not connect to the main development could have been avoided. When the attempt is made for new wave cinemas in Kannada director Prakash does not come in line.

Milana is well mounted and carries a modern and trendy feel. Its hero Akash is a popular RJ and is highly progressive and modern in his thinking. He does not feel let down by the problems in his life, but wants to take everything in his stride and face it. It looks as if the screenplays writers have been inspired by the lead roles of Telugu film Arya while working on the characterization of the film's hero. Even the film's basic plot has been inspired by Mani Rathnam directed Mouna Raagam. In that way the film's script does not have any fresh element. But it is to the credit of director Prakash to have narrated the film with a style and pace that is impressive.

Prakash takes the cake in many emotional sequences and also in the comedy sequences featuring two best known talented artists Raghu and Chandru. The song shot of Ninnidhale Ninnidhale stands out.

Dejected Akash (Puneeth Rajkumar) is in fine fettle when his wife Anjali (Parvathi) asks for the divorce on the first night. Anjali has Hemanth (Dilipraj) in mind. The fate of Akash is also similar because he loves one girl and married Anjali on his parent compulsion. On the other hand it is the wish of Anjali father that she should marry Radio Jockey Akash. The compelled marriage should dislodge you would feel. Akash wants the things to move in a smooth way. He applies for divorce with Anjali and the advocate says they should wait for six months.

Puneet Raj Kumar has shown lot of maturity in his performance these days. He excels in the role of Aakash in Milana. Malayalam actress Parvathi has cute looks and she delivers a sound performance. Dileep Rai in the role of Hemanth is good. Rangayana Raghu and Sihi Kahi Chandru have competed with each other to give the best comedy feast to the audience.

Music director Mano Murthy has two good tunes in the film. Ninnindhale Ninnidhale and Male Nintha Mele are two god tunes. Krishna Kumar's cinematographic work is top class.

Milana is a well made film, but the story content has been seen many times before. But it is a good watch for the family audience.
